1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using AV Knowledge, including browsing articles, creating an account, publishing posts, uploading images, commenting, liking content, or submitting a contact form, you agree to these Terms of Service.

If you do not agree with these terms, you should not use AV Knowledge. These terms apply to all visitors, registered users, contributors, moderators, and administrators.

2. User Accounts

Some features require an account. You agree to provide accurate account information, maintain the security of your login credentials, and notify AV Knowledge if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

  • You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
  • You may not impersonate another person or organization.
  • You may not create accounts for spam, abuse, scraping, or platform manipulation.
  • We may restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

3. Age Requirements

AV Knowledge is not intended for children under 13 years old. By using the platform, you represent that you are at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use AV Knowledge only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

4. User-Generated Content

AV Knowledge allows users to create and publish articles, comments, troubleshooting steps, images, diagrams, and other content. You are responsible for the content you submit.

You agree that your content will not:

  • Contain spam, scams, phishing links, malware, or malicious code.
  • Harass, threaten, abuse, defame, or target another person or group.
  • Include intentionally false, dangerous, or misleading technical information.
  • Violate another person’s intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or contractual rights.
  • Contain confidential information that you do not have permission to share.
  • Promote illegal activity or unsafe behavior.

You should only upload images, diagrams, screenshots, or documentation that you own or have permission to use.

5. Content Ownership and License

You retain ownership of content you submit to AV Knowledge. However, by posting or uploading content, you grant AV Knowledge a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, format, excerpt, moderate, distribute, and make your content available through the platform.

This license is necessary so AV Knowledge can operate the knowledge base, display articles, show comments, create previews, feature helpful posts, back up platform data, and make content available to other users.

If you delete your content, it may no longer be publicly visible, but backup copies, moderation records, logs, or cached versions may remain for a reasonable period where permitted by law and necessary for platform operation, security, or legal compliance.

6. Community Conduct

AV Knowledge is intended to be a helpful technical resource. Users must interact respectfully and contribute in good faith.

  • Do not post abusive, discriminatory, obscene, or threatening content.
  • Do not repeatedly post low-quality, duplicate, or irrelevant content.
  • Do not attempt to manipulate likes, comments, rankings, or featured content.
  • Do not interfere with the platform, its security, its availability, or other users’ accounts.
  • Do not use automated tools to scrape, overload, or misuse the platform.

7. Moderation and Editorial Control

AV Knowledge may review, edit, format, categorize, feature, unfeature, hide, unpublish, restrict, or remove content at its discretion.

We may moderate content for reasons including accuracy, safety, spam prevention, relevance, readability, legal compliance, user reports, or violation of these terms.

Featuring an article does not mean AV Knowledge guarantees the content is complete, accurate, safe for every installation, or suitable for every AV system.

8. Technical Information and No Professional Warranty

Use technical guidance carefully.

AV Knowledge contains community-submitted AV troubleshooting information. It may be incomplete, outdated, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your specific equipment, wiring, environment, building code, safety requirements, or installation.

Content on AV Knowledge is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional engineering, electrical, safety, manufacturer, legal, or compliance advice.

You are responsible for verifying information before relying on it. Always follow manufacturer documentation, workplace policies, applicable laws, safety standards, and instructions from qualified professionals.

9. Safety, Electrical Work, and Physical Installations

Some AV work may involve electricity, ladders, rigging, wall penetrations, ceiling mounts, network infrastructure, commercial equipment, or building systems. Do not perform work that you are not trained, licensed, authorized, or qualified to perform.

AV Knowledge is not responsible for property damage, personal injury, equipment damage, downtime, data loss, or other harm resulting from use or misuse of platform content.

10. Privacy and Data

AV Knowledge may collect account information, profile information, email addresses, posts, comments, likes, uploaded images, contact form submissions, technical logs, and other data necessary to operate the platform.

Your use of AV Knowledge is also governed by our Privacy Policy. If a separate Privacy Policy has not yet been published, you should create one before public launch to explain what data is collected, how it is used, how long it is retained, and how users can contact you about privacy inquiries.

11. Email Communications

By creating an account or submitting a contact form, you agree that AV Knowledge may send transactional emails, including email confirmation, password reset messages, account notices, support responses, and important platform updates.

AV Knowledge does not require users to receive marketing emails as a condition of using the core platform unless separately disclosed and permitted by applicable law.

12. AV Knowledge Intellectual Property

The AV Knowledge name, branding, interface design, layout, graphics, software, and platform structure are owned by AV Knowledge or its licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, resell, or misuse the platform’s branding or software without permission.

User-submitted content remains subject to the ownership and license terms described above.

13. Third-Party Products, Brands, and Links

AV Knowledge may reference third-party products, manufacturers, trademarks, websites, tools, or services. These references are for informational purposes only and do not imply endorsement, sponsorship, partnership, or approval unless explicitly stated.

Third-party links or resources are not controlled by AV Knowledge. You are responsible for reviewing third-party terms, privacy policies, documentation, and safety instructions.

14. Platform Availability and Changes

AV Knowledge may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue any part of the platform at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, permanent storage, or continued access to any specific feature or content.

15. Account Suspension and Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts that violate these terms, abuse the platform, create legal risk, threaten security, or harm the AV Knowledge community.

Users may stop using AV Knowledge at any time. If you want account deletion or content removal, contact support. Some records may be retained where reasonably necessary for backups, security, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or platform integrity.

16. Disclaimer of Warranties

AV Knowledge is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, AV Knowledge disclaims warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AV Knowledge and its owners, operators, contributors, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, equipment, business opportunity, or service availability.

This limitation applies whether the claim is based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, warranty, or any other legal theory.

18. User Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless AV Knowledge from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your content, your use of the platform, your violation of these terms, or your violation of another person’s rights.

19. Changes to These Terms

AV Knowledge may update these terms from time to time. If changes are material, we may provide notice through the platform or by email. Continued use of AV Knowledge after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

20. Governing Law

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Site, or your use of AV Knowledge shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law rules. You agree that any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
